Happy Thanksgiving

thanksgiving weekend and the
weather is beautiful!!

we went for a walk on the beach today....
cubby enjoyed a swim in the lake
then a roll in the sand...
so...needless to say a bath was sorely needed!

i believe a few choice morsels
of our thanksgiving ham added to the cubster's dinner
helped to make amends for the bath!

Sunday

it is overcast, cold and wet today...
a perfect day to stay inside
and relax

we lit a fire and I am sitting here
playing with some new iphone photography apps
i love to experiment with my photos!

then a little further tweaking with
"dynamic light"

Autumn Leaves

it was a lovely sunny day for a walk....
a little cool and windy
but...oh such beauty to behold

Cat Sitting

while she vacations in Rome!

Sunday at the beach

it was a beautiful early fall day...
the water a deeper shade of blue and
the sun casting a golden glow over the beach

Change of weather

what a difference a day makes!
yesterday was beautiful down by the beach...
today the sky and clouds hinted at the rain to come...

End of Summer

walking our dog at the beach yesterday
and i noticed how deserted it was...
the lifeguards are gone...
just the soft ripple of the waves
along an empty beach...

Time to rest

after swimming in the lake
rolling in the sand
retrieving sticks
and sniffing every blade of grass...
it is time to rest....

Sunflower surprise

we were down at the beach today
and i spotted
this single clump of sunflowers
growing happily in the sand
among some rocks...

so out comes my iphone
and after a little fix
with some of my photo apps...
voila!

At the veterinary clinic

at our veterinary clinic...

for me that photo says it all...

our cat had a vaccination lately and did not
handle it very well...
but she received excellent care and is now back home!

Clouds

on my walks with the dog i have
been treated to some

Niagara Falls

i spent 2 days in a conference in Niagara Falls this week
my hotel room was on the 18th floor
with a wonderful view of the falls...

i could have spent all my time taking photos...

farming addiction

i have been away from my blog
for months and months!

the reason is.... i have become addicted to farming....
i am spending way too much of
my free time tending to my crops and animals!

i love to take photos with my iphone and camera
and then experiment in photoshop
to see how i can alter my pictures
....well i have been away from ps for so long i can barely
remember how to navigate my way around!

i post my iphone photos on
instagram...an app i love!

thinking i should share my iphonography
on my blog as a way to get back
to blogging on a regular basis

i promised a special friend
i would revisit my blog today...
this one's for her!

the wedding

i had to be at work by 7 this morning
so decided to set the alarm
a wee bit earlier....

i remember watching Diana and Charles
on their wedding day...
thought it only right to watch
William and Kate

i am glad i did...after all it is history
and she was beautiful!

i wish them all the happiness
in the world

my cousin in Scotland (not a fan of the Monarchy)
sent me these tea towels
as a memento...

catching up

it has been almost 2 weeks since my last post
and i have news....

on the work front...i have adjusted my work load to
give me a "life" away from work...
cause after all, isn't that what really counts??...
a balance...work and play...

but...the BEST news is...
we are new parents again!!......

the hubs and I adopted a 4 and 1/2 year old
rescue pup...a cockapoo...called cubby!

our last boy...basil, a schnazuer, left us 8 years ago.....
we always wanted another dog...but emotions, family illness,
work commitments and time just got in the way....

now...cubby is here!

it is a sad story with a happy ending..

cubs was a pup, bought by young girl...she named him "hubby"
....a boyfriend came on the scene...
cubs was then left crated in the basement...
sometimes without water for days..
he was never neutered or vaccinated...
and did not know how to play

fast forward....two wonderful ladies
finally managed to rescue him...

they gave gave him love and the necessary
veterinary care....
then they set about finding cubs (they changed his name)
his 'forever home'

so...now we have the most loving boy
to walk, cuddle and share our lives with...

we are so lucky to have found the cubster!

i had a two day meeting this week
in Niagara-on-the-Lake

needless to say...there was lots of wine!

we sampled a new pinot grigio and a shiraz....
both were excellent

the vineyards are awakening....

my son recently returned from
his first visit to Cuba

today he brought over some photos
this is definitely my
favourite

i have always loved dolphins
i believe they know
so much more than we
can possibly imagine

so...thinking this is something
i must add to my
'bucket list'

finally saturday

this has been an exhausting week...
year end inventory at work
and a ton of paperwork
to complete....

i feel weighed down and lacking in
energy...

i bought some pansies after work
today...they always make
me smile

as i was bringing them out of the car
i noticed some great clouds
dancing above the trees in
the ravine....

sipping a quiet cup of tea....my thoughts
drift to the awakening garden....
where will i put my pansies?
when will the tulips bloom?
what surprises will i find?

afternoon walk

a bright, beautiful but chilly saturday
we bundled up and ventured outside
for a stroll...

the crocus in the front garden
were poking through
the snow....reaching for the sun

and colorful tulips filled
the sidewalks

snow.....

this morning our kitty

was surprised to find the back deck
covered in cold white stuff....
oops...think i will just head back inside!

although it was a wee bit nippy yesterday
i decided to go for a walk
down by the bluffs

i have been spending all my free time
learning about the
'magic'
of photoshop........
.it is so much fun! i can hardly wait to come home from work and start experimenting with different effects...textures and techniques
i am participating in a 4 week on-line photomanipulation course...offered by Susan Tuttle
i am learning so much....
and have my friend Nancy to thank for opening the gate of creativity and encouraging me to take the first steps
